bea's cheddar loaves

This is a wonderful and moist meatloaf with a big taste but in little loaves. My friend, Susan, shared this recipe with me but she said she thinks she found it in Taste of Home. My family loves for me to make these for family night. 6/14/11: Susan said she doesn't add egg to hers even though the recipe calls for one. She also said that you can cook the loaves until done and then add the sauce, then stick it back in the oven or crock pot and heat til the sauce has warmed.

    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 c
    oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onions
  • 1 tsp
    salt

  • SAUCE:

How To Make bea's cheddar loaves

  • 1
Preheat oven to 350. Combine together the milk, egg (if using one), cheese, oatmeal, onion, salt & pepper. Mix in the ground beef and combine well.
  • 2
With your hands shape into 8 or so mini loaves and place into a greased baking dish or pan. I normally just shape into large meatball style.
  • 3
SAUCE: Combine the sauce ingredients together & mix well. Sometimes I double the sauce recipe.
  • 4
Pour over the cheddar loaves and bake, uncovered, @ 350 for approximately 40 minutes. * Once cooked, you can then transfer to a crock pot and use the warm setting until ready to serve.
