Cabbage casserole w/tomatoes and green chilies

I wanted to try something different with my cabbage instead of stuffed cabbage,beside the fact some people in my household does not like rice so I had to think of something easy.
Keep in mind I am making it up as I go along,believe it or not it was rather good.

Ingredients

2 lb
ground beef
1/2 c
chopped onions
1/2 c
chopped green pepper
1/2 c
celery chopped
1 can(s)
mushrooms drained
1 can(s)
tomatoes and green chilies
1 can(s)
15oz crushed tomatoes
dash(es)
salt
dash(es)
pepper
pinch
garlic powder

I USED 1 CUP OF MIREPOIX CAJUN STYLE BLEND,YOU CAN BUY IT AT KROGER IN THE FROZEN VEGI'S. FOR THOSE THAT HAVE A KROGER STORE. THIS BLEND HAS EVERYTHING IN IT AND IT'S ALREADY CHOPPED SO IT CUTS YOUR TIME IN HALF.

whole cabbage cut up
1 stick
margarine
1/2 c
plain bread crumbs
8 oz
bag of mexican cheese

Directions Step-By-Step

Brown ground beef w/onions,celery,green bell pepper,drain off fat,add mushrooms,salt,pepper,garlic powder,tomatoes and green chilies,crushed tomatoes stir together let simmer for approx. 5 minutes

put margarine in a large skillet add cabbage,cover let cook while beef is browning,stir cabbage to prevent sticking, when the meat mixture is done turn it off keep it covered,let cabbage cook until slightly tender.Turn off heat

preheat oven to 350 degrees use a glass casserole dish and layer the bottom with fried cabbage,shake 1/4 of the plain bread crumbs on top of cabbage,pour meat mixture over crumbs,put the rest of the bread crumbs on top of meat,add the cheese covering the meat then put the rest of the cabbage on top spread to cover cheese, then place foil over dish,put in oven and cook for 1 hour
