4 beef cube steaks
1 c flour, divided
1 egg
1 onion, chopped
1 c beef stock, unsalted
1 c heavy cream
2 Tbsp fresh parsley, minced
olive oil, extra virgin
1/4 c milk
sea salt, to taste
freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp granulated garlic

This one is Diabetic safe but low calorie it AIN"T!!!! 4oz servings ONLY!!

BTW, if you don't want to use white flour, it's just as good using whole wheat or gluten free flour!

DON'T LET YOUR OLIVE OIL GET TOO HOT!! Olive oil has a LOWER smoke point than veggie oil!

Chicken Fried Steak is an old favorite of our family... and the gravy on this recipe really throws it over the top! It was so tasty that I cannot wait to make it again.

Instead of heavy cream do you think 1/2 & 1/2 would be okay to use??

Yes, but the gravy won't be as rich. For a twist you can try buttermilk too

THIS RECIPE IS THE BOMB. My husband is still raving about the meal. I have been cooking for him for years, and he told me last night that this recipe was the best he has ever tasted. I have to say that maybe it is not as diabetic as I normally would cook for us but it was a wonderful treat all the same

Thank you Kim! When I pulled this one out my hat I was a 23 year old Commisaryman 3rd Class in the Navy! So it was intended to achieve maximum flavor! It is a treat for me now too, as the calorie count is astronomical. But my diabetic educator said it was safe!

One thing I add to this recipe is: After the gravy is made and the steak is cooked I put the steak back into the gravy and let it simmer for about an hour covered. It is absolutely wonderful and you can cut the steak with your fork!
