Feijoada is the undisputed national dish of brazil, it is traditionally cooked with pork ( the entire pig, in fact ) only served at noontime. It is such a heavy fat filled dish that a nap is suggested post consumption.

Ingredients For brazilian feijoada

  • 16 oz. can
    black beans
  • 1 lb
    lean stew beef, cut into 1
  • 1 28 oz. can
    tomatoes, stewed italian-style, no sodiun added
  • 2 lg
    cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper, frashly ground
  • 2 c
    brown rice, cooked
  • 1 md
    onion, finely diced

How To Make brazilian feijoada

    In a Dutch oven, combine beans, beef, tomatoes, onion, garlic and 8 cups of water.

    Bring to boil over medium heat, boil 10 minutes. Skimming off foam.

    Reduce heat, cover and simmer for approx. 1 1/2 hour or until beef is tender.

    Season with pepper, stir in rice. Heat through and serve immediately.
