I used to work at a restaurant who served their burritos deep fried and topped with american cheese and chili. They were crispy and so good! Of course, you can buy your frozen burritos premade, for a really quick meal.

Ingredients For beef and bean burritos

  • 1 pkg
    ground chuck
  • 1 pkg
    taco seasoning, 1 oz. pkg. old el paso
  • 2/3 c
    water
  • 1 can
    refried beans, 15 ounce
  • 8-10 md
    flour tortillas or large size
  • 1 pkg
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 c
    oil or shortening for deep frying
  • 1-2 can
    hormel or wolf brand chili 19 ounce
  • 8-10 slice
    american cheese

How To Make beef and bean burritos

    Brown ground chuck. Drain.
  • 2
    Add Taco seasoning and water to beef. Cook until water is absorbed.

    Heat refried beans in saucepan.
  • 4
    Heat flour tortillas in skillet or microwave to soften.
  • 5
    Assemble individual burritos by spreading beans, gound chuck and shredded cheese on top of tortilla. Roll up and tuck ends. Note, Variation: This photo shows a corn tortilla added after the refried beans.

    Wrap in plastic wrap or ziplock bag and store in the freezer until frozen & ready to cook.

    TO COOK: Remove frozen burrito from the freezer. Deep fry in hot oil until crispy & done about 3-5 minutes on each side. Remove from oil and place on paper towels. Lightly salt, if desired.

    TO SERVE: Top with 1 slice of American cheese and cover with chili.
