Beef and Apple Stew

I know, it sounds odd, but it is pretty good. I use to make it for an old bachelor friend, who just loved it. Always served it with just crackers. Give it a try!

Ingredients

1 lb
top round of beef, cut into 1 inch cubes
2 Tbsp
olive oil
1
medium onion, sliced
2 Tbsp
flour
2
tart apples, like granny smith, peeled, cored and sliced
1 can(s)
(13 3/4/oz) beef broth
1/2 tsp
ground sage
1
medium potato, peeled and cubed
1 c
frozen peas and carrots, thawed

Directions Step-By-Step

In a large saucepan over med-high heat brown the beef in oil.

Stir in the onion and cook until tender.

Stir in the flour, apples, broth and sage. Heat to a boil then reduce the heat.

Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender. Add the potatoes and simer another 20-30 minutes. Stir in the peas andcarrots and simmer to heat through.
