Val's StoryMy kids loved watching "The Cosby Show" episodes a few years ago. My son wanted to try Cliff and Theo Huxtable's Bacon Burger Dogs. I came up with these. Just a fun food for our family!
[To improve the healthfulness, I used natural, lean meat products, and served it with Roasted Kale Chips and mixed fresh berries. The kids prefer beef hot dogs and no kale chips.:)]
extra lean ground beef
onions finely chopped or 1 tablespoon onion flakes
garlic powder or one clove fresh garlic
cayenne pepper (optional-most of my family does not like spicy!)
natural bacon slices (1-2 slices per b.b.dog)
barbecue sauce (your favorite)
hot dog buns or steak rolls
cheddar cheese and/or condiments of your choice
2Using a bit more than 1/2 cup of the beef mixture, patted into a rectangle, wrap each hot dog. Cover it completely so that it looks like a cylinder.
3Wrap bacon around the outside of the burger dog. If using thinly sliced bacon, I would recommend using two slices.
4Grill the bacon burger dogs until the beef mixture is thoroughly cooked (well done). Be careful to turn them and cook well on all sides.
6Serve on buns or rolls with extra bbq sauce, a slice of cheddar cheese, or other condiments of your choosing.
