My kids loved watching "The Cosby Show" episodes a few years ago. My son wanted to try Cliff and Theo Huxtable's Bacon Burger Dogs. I came up with these. Just a fun food for our family!

[To improve the healthfulness, I used natural, lean meat products, and served it with Roasted Kale Chips and mixed fresh berries. The kids prefer beef hot dogs and no kale chips.:)]

Ingredients

2 lb
extra lean ground beef
1/4 c
onions finely chopped or 1 tablespoon onion flakes
1
large egg
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1/8-1/4 tsp
garlic powder or one clove fresh garlic
1/4 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
black pepper
1/8-1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper (optional-most of my family does not like spicy!)
6-8
hot dogs
6-16
natural bacon slices (1-2 slices per b.b.dog)
1/2 c
barbecue sauce (your favorite)
6-8
hot dog buns or steak rolls
cheddar cheese and/or condiments of your choice

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Blend first 7 ingredients by kneading them together.
2
Using a bit more than 1/2 cup of the beef mixture, patted into a rectangle, wrap each hot dog. Cover it completely so that it looks like a cylinder.
3
Wrap bacon around the outside of the burger dog. If using thinly sliced bacon, I would recommend using two slices.
4
Grill the bacon burger dogs until the beef mixture is thoroughly cooked (well done). Be careful to turn them and cook well on all sides.
5
When cooked completely, brush with bbq sauce to your taste.
6
Serve on buns or rolls with extra bbq sauce, a slice of cheddar cheese, or other condiments of your choosing.
7
Enjoy!

Yes they were working on this system all weekend Val, so there was a lot we could not do, like printing a recipe or sending it to more than one individual at one time. So hopefully they will add your changes. They really look good, and since my husband loves beef and he also loves beef hot dogs these will be great for him. I will surprise him with them. This is a very unique recipe, have never seen it before. Can't wait to try it.

I have many family members in the Kansas City area, Lees Summit, Grandview, & KC Proper. I feel like we are family Smile.

Rose Mary, I edited the recipe Fri. night but the changes still have not appeared. The editing page has a message on it that I will be emailed when the changes are made. So far they are "being processed". Until then, the changes are as follows: 1/4 c onions finely chopped or 1 tablespoon onion flakes, AND 1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional), 6-8 hot dogs, 6-16 slices of bacon (depending on thickness and length of slices), 1/2 cup bbq sauce, 6-8 hot dog buns or steak rolls

I hope you enjoy both enjoy them. :)
