Barbara's StoryGreat Smoothie for the AM, had it today pretty early and helped me stay full for about 5 hrs or so and I was running around all morning with the oatmeal and protein powder. Very tasty, fruity and a little tart from the lemon juice, but nicely balanced out with the splenda and fruit. Keeps getting better every morning.
banana, broken in chunks
peach juice/lite syrup from canned peaches
scoup protein powder, chocolate or vanilla
ice cubes for blender
pineapple flavored low fat yogurt
ricotta cheese, low fat
heaping tbsp oatmeal (about 1/4 cup)
splenda or 2 tsp honey
1Place half of ice in blender and pulse a few times to break up. Add in rest of ice and strawberries and pulse. Add broken banana, peach juice, powder and yogurt and blend 15 seconds. Add ricotta cheese, lemon juice, oatmeal, wheat germ, vanilla extract and splenda or honey and blend until desired consistency.
This will be slightly thick. If you wish to have it a thinner smoothie, omit 5 ice cubes and add 3 tbsp of water or juice (lemon or peach).
