mixed berry and apple oatmeal smoothie

After buying more apples than I could finish by myself, I decided to cut them up and freeze them along with fruit that I froze before it would go bad. Freezing your fruit is a great way to take advantage of sales, and if you drink smoothies like I do in the morning, it is a great way to thicken your smoothie and keep it cold as well.

Ingredients For mixed berry and apple oatmeal smoothie

  • 1/2 c
    prepared oatmeal, cooled
  • 1/2 c
    mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries and blackberries)
  • 1/4 c
    raspberry flavored yogurt, low fat
  • 1/3 c
    milk, 1%
  • 1/4
    apple, sliced and frozen (i had skin on)
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 pkg
    splenda
  • 1 Tbsp
    wheat germ- optional
  • 1 Tbsp
    flax- optional
  • ice

How To Make mixed berry and apple oatmeal smoothie

    Combine ingredients in a blender and pulse to begin to break down. If desired, add ice, a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency. I used about a cup to cup and a half of ice.

    Note: You also use soy milk or almond milk in this. To omit milk, you can substitute with a cranberry/raspberry juice.
