I've been experimenting with various combinations to create a low calorie, home made frappuccino and I do believe I've found it! This has become an almost daily summer afternoon treat for me, and why not when it's this harmless, delicious AND cheap?? Take that, green mermaid over-priced coffee shop!

    * The "Pre-prepared" part: Make a couple of cups of good quality coffee. I prefer a stronger brew for this as it will be blended with other ingredients, and I crave that rich coffee flavor! Let cool, then pour coffee into two ice cube trays -- one cup fills one tray just about perfectly -- and freeze. Once frozen, pop them out and store in a big baggie.

Now for the fun part! (Note on the almond milk - start with 1/3 cup and see if you like the consistency...you can always add more if you want it a bit more liquid-y.) Place all ingredients in a blender ( I LOVE my new Ninja) and whir-whir-whir until the coffee cubes have been thoroughly pulverized & blended with the other ingredients, reaching a beautiful creamy consistency that leaves you drooling.

Pour into a tall glass, top with some whipped cream if you're feeling decadent (and hey - it's only an extra 15 calories for 2 Tbsp....therefore, I add 4!), stick a pretty straw in, and enjoy!!!

And if you're shaking your head and saying "No way!" on the calories after one sip, here's the breakdown! *coffee cubes = 0 calories *1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk = 15 calories *2 oz. sugar free vanilla syrup = 0 calories *packet of Stevia = 0 calories And there ya have it!

(If a creative streak hits, this recipe could be tweaked all kinds of ways --- other syrups [of course, non sugar-free would up the calorie hit, but we need to splurge now and then], sub some Kahlua for the almond milk, mix the coffee with a flavored creamer to match your syrup, and on and on...! )
