Even if you don't like cider, you'll want to cook up some of this for the wonderful holiday smells that will permeate your house.

If you do like cider, you'll love this recipe. I carry this to office Christmas potlucks in a crockpot and never bring any home.

Stove Top

Ingredients

1 gal
apple cider or apple juice
4 oz
cinnamon bark (or sticks)
4 oz
whole cloves
4 oz
allspice
4 oz
orange peel
1 dash(es)
cinnamon oil
1 dash(es)
orange oil
1 oz
lemon peel
1 pinch
coriander seed (optional but adds oomph)

Directions Step-By-Step

Bring juice to simmer stage

Place spices in a tea ball or tie in a cheese cloth square

Add spices to cider, turn off heat and steep for 15-30 minutes

Alternate:

Pour cider into crockpot which is turned on to high

Allow to come to simmer

Turn down to low, drop spices into crockpot and leave setting on "serve"

It will generally last throughout a buffet dinner.

To reheat, pour into cup and zap in microwave for about 30 seconds.
