special lemonade
On impulse, I picked up a Taste of Home's recipe card cookbook (found in the grocery store aisle). And, every once in a while, I pick something out to try. Like this. If you've been wanting a homemade lemonade recipe with a nice little twist, try this one. . . I didn't like the original instructions, so I have modified them a little, but I think you'll find them still understandable.

Ingredients
- 2 medium lemons
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 3 cups chilled club soda
- 2 - 3 drops yellow food coloring, optional
- additional sugar, optional
How To Make special lemonade
-
Step 1Remove ends from lemons and discard. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the flavorful outside away from the bitter rind. Set peel aside. Peel the bitter rind and throw away. Cut the lemons in half top to bottom, and in quarters, side to side. Squeeze juice keeping both juice and pulp.
-
Step 2Place peel and pulp into a food processor and coarse chop. Mix peel mixture, juice, and sugar and let sit for 30 minutes.
-
Step 3Add milk. Strain mixture (removing the peel mixture). Add club soda and food coloring, if desired, and mix. Can be served immediately in sugar-rimmed glasses, if desired.
