Long ago, when we used to have family get-togethers out in the country, Aunt Neta would mix up lemonade in a big ol' clean washtub with a block of ice in the center. It doesn't get any better than that, but if you just want a small amount of homemade lemonade for your family, you can make this in a 3 quart pitcher. Play with the amounts of water & sugar until it tastes like you love it. Wouldn't hurt to have some extra lemons/lemon juiceu on hand the first time you make it. You want it to be PERFECT, just like Aunt Neta's. Enjoy, y'all! =^..^=

In a 3 quart pitcher, layer the lemon slices and the sugar. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap & refrigerate for 4 hours (or overnight). This will draw out the juice & lemon oil from the lemons.

Using a potato masher or heavy spoon, press the lemons against the bottom or side of the pitcher to release the juice. Be careful not to tear up the lemon slices!

Add water & ice to make 3 quarts of lemonade. Stir well, then taste. Adjust lemon juice, water, and/or sugar to suit your taste. (Write down YOUR amounts so your lemonade will be perfect to you each time.)
