cinnamon sticks for garnish (if desired)
Poke the cloves into the orange. Be sure the buds are still visible.
Place the cider in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the allspice, nutmeg and brown sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Bring to a slow boil.
Add the clove covered orange to the cider. Reduce heat to simmer. Cover and cook for 20 minutes. Remove the orange.
Serve hot in mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks if desired.
