Ingredients For winter julep (new hampshire)

  • 3 oz. bourbon
  • 1 ½ oz. brown sugar syrup (recipe below)
  • 10 oz. boiling water
  • 2 peppermint tea bags
  • BROWN SUGAR SYRUP:
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water

How To Make winter julep (new hampshire)

    Prepare syrup by bringing both ingredients to a boil in a heavy sauce pan over high heat. Stir to dissolve and when mixture just begins to boil, reduce to simmer and allow to cook for five – six minutes. Remove from heat and cool.

    Constructing the rest of the drink is easy. For the two drinks, bring 10 ounces of water to a boil. Pour directly into heat proof glasses or mugs and place a peppermint tea bag in each; allow to steep for about four minutes.

    Remove teabag; add 1½ oz. bourbon to each glass/mug and stir. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lemon twist.
