1split the vanilla beans lengthwise, then cut them in half crosswise.
2In a glass jar mix 4 of the vanilla bean pieces and the rum. Cover and let mixture stand at room temperature, shaking the bottle occasionally, for two weeks. Store in a cool, dark place, the vanilla rum will last for one year. Use it as you would any good vanilla extract.
