This is like the homemade vanilla made with brandy, or this is made with rum. It's extra potent and You can make it with vodka also. Because of their mutual tropical origins because good wood aged rum often has flavor notes of vanilla, the two are natural partners. five whole vanilla beans

1 cup best quality gold rum
How To Make vanilla rum

1split the vanilla beans lengthwise, then cut them in half crosswise.

2In a glass jar mix 4 of the vanilla bean pieces and the rum. Cover and let mixture stand at room temperature, shaking the bottle occasionally, for two weeks. Store in a cool, dark place, the vanilla rum will last for one year. Use it as you would any good vanilla extract.
