This homegrown version of the Night Train Cocktail is served at the Broadway Grill & Tavern in Bismark. It blends surprising flavors from locally grown rhubarb syrup.

Ingredients

2 oz. gin
2 oz. rhubarb simple syrup*
1 oz. fresh lime juice

*RHUBARB SIMPLE SYRUP

2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 cup diced rhubarb
juice of one lemon

Directions Step-By-Step

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all of the ingredients. Shake gently until chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with brandy marinated dried fruit.

RHUBARB SIMPLE SYRUP:
In a medium saucepan, combine all of the ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until all of the sugar has dissolved. Strain the syrup and refrigerate for up to one week. This recipe makes enough syrup for about 16 cocktails.
