Fall is the prime time to experience the bounty of West Virginia’s black walnut harvest. The annual Black Walnut Festival is a treasure trove of nutty spectacles, from baking contests, to flea markets that salute the state’s specialty. While enjoying the festivities, don’t forget to enjoy a few of these special Manhattans made with West Virginia Bourbon, spiced walnut liqueur and black walnut bitters.

Ingredients

1 ½ oz. smooth ambler old scout bourbon
1 oz. black walnut liqueur
dash of black walnut bitters
maraschino cherry

Step-By-Step

1Stir vigorously, all ingredients with ice in cocktail mixer.

2Strain into a Manhattan glass then drop a single cherry in the bottom for garnish.

3Can also be served on the rocks. Again, don’t forget the cherry.
