This is a dessert sure to disappear off your table.. I own a catering company and this is by far the most requested dessert on my menu.. I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as my family and customers do!

pinch tips: How to Remove a Yolk

1 lb
french bread (day old)
3 1/4 c
3/4 c
granulated sugar
eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsp
1/4 tsp
1/4 tsp
1 dash(es)
1/2 c
1/4 c
pecans (optional)
1 c
granulated sugar
6 Tbsp
butter, melted
1/2 c
1 1/2 Tbsp
bourbon (or more to taste)
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 Tbsp
light corn syrup
1 tsp

Directions Step-By-Step

Begin this recipe by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the bread into cubes, about ½ inch each. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl and add the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and dash of salt. Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract into the bread mixture, mix well. Place ½ of the bread mixture in a casserole dish. Now you can layer the pecans and raisins on top of the bread mixture, if used. Top the layers in the casserole dish with the remaining bread mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until lightly brown. Serve the pudding warm with buttery bourbon sauce.
For the buttery bourbon sauce.. In a sauce pan combine all the ingredients. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and serve warm over bread pudding.

Oh YUM! My hsb and I love, love, love bread pudding. When at WDW last year we (and our friends who traveled with us) had bread pudding at every place that served it - we ended up calling that trip our WDW Bread Pudding Tour! Can't wait to make this recipe - your sauce is especially tantalizing!!

I had left-over cinnamon rolls and made your recipe with the cinnamon rolls instead of french bread. It already had plenty of cinnamon, so I did not add more. It was amazing!

I am anxious to try your bread pudding. I make it often and use brandy or rum and my friends love it. Your bourbon sauce sounds delious and I will look forward to using it.

I live alone and am 76 years old so if I don't give most of it away, well you know what happens to it. Mother told me not to waste food, when I was young so I must do what mother says LOL.

Can't wait to try this, but I'll have to wait until I have a houseful of guests, or I will eat the entire thing. Your Bourbon sauce looks amazing! I listed you as one of my favorite cooks based on this recipe alone.

I worked in a school cafeteria and I created dishes using leftovers. I used the leftover hot rolls to make bread pudding. Obviously I couldn't use bourbon so I added a little orange zest and dried cranberries to to batter (using a LOT of evaporated milk!!!) and made an orange sauce to serve over it. One of the teachers said it was the best thing he ever put in his mouth! I hope you try it!!
