Everything is better with butter, and this has plenty! my kids love this dish, I took it from an old recipe that my great grandma had and bumped it up a little came out great.

Ingredients For mommy's super rich butter rolls

  • FOR ROLLS
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    cold butter (do not use margarine!)
  • 6 Tbsp
    milk (little more if needed)
  • FOR FILLING ROLLS
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    butter
  • FOR THE SAUCE
  • 2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    heavy cream
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon

How To Make mommy's super rich butter rolls

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

    for the dough, mix flour, sugar and salt in a bowl. cut in the cubed butter until resembles small peas. add milk and fold mixture out onto counter or board. knead dough slightly not too much just enough to bring all ingredients together. split the dough into two equal parts.

    Roll on the the doughs out to about 1/4 to 1/2 in thickness. spread 3 tbs butter onto dough. mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together and take half and sprinkle onto buttered dough. roll the dough up like a cinnamon roll and cut into about 1" thickness. repeat with reserved dough. set aside and make sauce.

    for the sauce melt your butter and add brown sugar and cinnamon, nutmeg,stir until sugar is disolved. add cream and milk. bring to a boil and set aside.

    pour a little sauce into buttered baking dishes. (just enough to cover bottom of pan) then you will lay your cut dough into the pan. you should have enough for 2 9x9 pans or one 9x18 whichever you prefer. then cover the rolls with the remaining sauce.

    Put the rolls into a preheated 350 degree oven and bake for aprox. 45 min or until flaky and golden. serve with ice cream or fresh whipping cream. Enjoy!
