In a large saucepan, combine the rice, sugar and salt. Stir in the milk and cream; add vanilla.
Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Watch carefully so as not to scorch or boil over. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, or until soft and the milk/cream becomes thick. Stir often.
Serve warm with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled over top, or fruit.
