Ingredients

3 c
brown sugar
3 1/2 c
water
2 or 3 Tbsp
butter
1/2 c
brown sugar
1 c
milk
1 c
chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
1 c
chopped dates (pitted)
2 c
all purpose flour
4 tsp
baking powder

Step-By-Step

1Combine first 3 ingredients. Make a syrup and boil 3 minutes. Pour into lightly floured 9x13 inch pan.

2Combine remaining ingredients to make dough.

3Drop dough into the hot syrup by spoonsful.

4Bake in moderate oven (350) for 30 minutes.
