Ingredients

2 c
milk (whole milk works best)
1/4 c
butter
2/3 c
sugar (white or brown)
3
eggs
2 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 tsp
ground nutmeg
1 tsp
vanilla
3 c
bread (french bread works best)
1/2 c
raisins

Step-By-Step

1In medium saucepan over medium heat, heat milk just until film forms over top. Add butter and stir until butter is melted. Cool to lukewarm.
2Combine sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 1 minute. Slowly add milk mixture and mix.
3Tear bread into small pieces. Place bread in lightly greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.
4Sprinkle with raisins, then pour batter on top of bread.
5Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until set. Serve warm.
