This recipe is from the BAKE OFF COOKBOOK 1961-1980. The bake offs are held every year at the Tanana Valley State Fair held in my home town of Fairbanks Alaska. I can never make enough of these tasty little treats. Believe me, you can't eat just one!! Try them out and let me know what you think.

Ingredients For walnut tassis

  • 3 oz
    cream cheese
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1 c
    sifted flour
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • dash
    salt
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter or marg
  • 2/3 c
    chopped walnuts

How To Make walnut tassis

  • 1
    Cream Cheese Pastry Soften cream cheese and butter and blend together. Stir in flour, Chill 1 hour Shape into 1" balls; place in ungreased 1-3/4" muffin pans, pressing dough evenly on bottom and sides. (I use the back of a 1/2 tsp measuring spoon to help do this.)

    Walnut Filling: Beat together egg, vanill, salt, brn sugar and 1 TBLSP. butter, just until smooth. Add walnuts and stir.

    Fill pastry cups 1/2 full. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until filling is set. Cool before removing from pan.
