Sea Sun submitted the beautiful photo! The recipe don't say to, but she added a top crust! Which is gorgeous! Goes to show how recipes can be beautifully altered! :o) Thank You Sea Sun!!!

Wendy, I think I'm going to make this today. I'm looking for new apple pie recipes to try...though I wasn't looking specifically for a dutch/crumb topping pie, I know you're an awesome baker so...lol!

Wendy, my 6 year old and I decided we were going to make this pie again. This time we made it in a deep dish pie pan. I added another two apples and sorta "winged" adding more sour cream, sugar, etc. Well, it didn't fill the pie pan so I ended up with another apple on top. lol

Also, with my "help" we kinda did things out of order, which is why we have a top crust. ;-) I am going to post the picture of our pie, but you can delete it (or I will) if you like since it's not really a description of your recipe. LOL! The filling IS though as it tasted just like the first time we made it (minus the topping).

I thought you'd get a kick out of it! Feel free to delete it. I'm not sure if the picture will go to default and if so, you won't want it up. LOL!

Gotta love cooking with kids!

Your pie is beautiful!!! Thank You for making this again Sea! I love the story behind it too! lol One time I made this and used molasses cookies that I purposely over baked so they'd be crunchy and hard...I put them in teh processor and made crumbs then while in processor drizzled in melted butter. I wish I could remembe how much I used...anyway, pressed it into a pie plate, then proceeded with the actual recipebut mixed cookie crumbs into the crumble for the top...mmmmmmmmmmm So see, the recipe can many directions...I will leave your photo, as it is really pretty!!! I will add a comment in the description that its yours :o) (((HUGS))) Thank You!

Thanks! We really love this pie. I can see how it would be fabulous with the molasses cookie crumble. :-)
