Maureen's Notes:

I used to bake with my grandmother (Nana) all the time and she would teach me her recipes. I hope you all like this one

Directions

1
In large bowl put baking soda, add boiling water and stir. Add king syrup and stir until blended.
2
In large bowl combine dry ingredients until they resemble the size of small peas.
3
In 3 small 8" pie shells put 1 1/3 cup liquid. Sprinkle over liquid evenly with 1/3 dry ingredients.
4
Bake in 400 degree oven for about 45 minutes until golden brown. Makes 3 8" pies.

Is king syrup the same as Karo type syrup?

King Syrup is the consistency but it is found where you buy Pancake & Waffle syrup. It has a kind of maple flavor. If you can't find it in your favorite grocery store, I suggest you get online to find which on carries it. I would not suggest using Karo Syrup
