old fashioned chocolate pie

This pie has been in my family for generations. Enjoy!!! It is very rich. If you wanted to tone it down you could take out some cocoa but I don't recommend that AT ALL!!!!

Ingredients For old fashioned chocolate pie

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 lg
    yellow of egg
  • MERINGUE
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 lg
    egg whites
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp
    cream of tartar

How To Make old fashioned chocolate pie

  • 1
    Take all the ingredients in the pie part EXCEPT the vanilla and put in boiler on stove. Cook, stirring constantly until thick. Take off heat and add vanilla. Poor into homemade pie shell.

    Take the eggs white and the rest and whip until peaks form. Pour over pie and just heat til meringue browns on top.
