A delicious recipe dating back to the 1920s. It is so great to have a recipe make it from generation to generation! NOTE THE PIE PICTURED HAS A THIN MERINGUE TOPPING. I am not one for meringue.

Ingredients

1 c
toasted slivered almonds
1 c
sugar
3/4 c
honey
3
eggs slightly beating
1/4 c
butter, melted
2 Tbsp
heavy cream
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1/2 tsp
almond extract
1/4 tsp
salt
9
inch unbaked pie shell

Directions Step-By-Step

1
PREHEAT OVEN TO 375
2
Blend all ingredients except crust in a mixing bowl. pour into pie shell. Bake 40 to 50 minutes, until crust is set and filling is golden. Let cool at least 2 hours before cutting.

Hello Jenny,
Here is what I found for that:
Really easy...

2 parts icing sugar
1 part egg whites
Touch of lemon juice

Whip until hard peaks form. To color the meringue I would suggest a torch but if you don't have one an oven broiler should do fine.

Darla, This pie looks scrumptious and I'm going to make it. Do you happen to have the recipe for the thin meringue topping and how to cook it with that on it?
