This yummy chocolate cobbler is a snap to make. There is all the deliciousness of a molten cake without the fuss. Made with simple pantry ingredients, the crust bakes soft and cake-like. It holds in the gooey chocolate filling. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an easy yet delicious dessert ready in minutes.

Ingredients For chocolate cobbler

  • 8 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 1/4 c
    granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 1/2 c
    self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 6 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 2 c
    boiling water

How To Make chocolate cobbler

  • Melting butter in a 9x13 baking dish.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a 9x13 glass baking dish, melt the 8 Tbsp of butter in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Sugar, self-rising flour, vanilla extract, and milk in a bowl.

    In a bowl, mix 1 1/4 c sugar, self-rising flour, vanilla extract, and milk.
  • Pour batter over melted butter.

    Once the butter is melted, pour the batter over the butter. Do not stir.
  • Mix granulated sugar and cocoa.

    In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa and the remaining granulated sugar.
  • Sprinkle cocoa mixture over the batter.

    Sprinkle the cocoa/sugar mixture on top of the batter. Do not stir.
  • Pour boiling water over the cocoa mixture.

    Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of that. Do not stir.
  • Bake the chocolate cobbler.

    Bake for 40 - 45 minutes. I bake mine until it has a golden brown crust.
  • Serve chocolate cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

    Serve warm with ice cream.
