Directions
Preheat oven to 350. In a 9x13 glass baking dish, melt the two sticks of butter in the oven.Meanwhile in a bowl, mix together the 1 1/4cups of sugar, flour, vanilla and milk. Once the butter is melted pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.In a separate bowl mix together the cocoa and remaining sugar.Sprinkle cocoa/sugar mixture on top of batter. Do not stir.Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of that (don't stir) and bake for 30-45 minutes. I bake mine until I have a nice golden brown crust. In my oven this usually take about 35 minutes. Serve warm. Great with ice cream

I'm thinking the same thing, fast and ingredients that you always have on hand. This is already going to be a favorite for work come January 2. (I work at H&R Block, January through April 15, and we always have covered dish days, most everyday someone brings something.)This will be great.

Funny story...We just came back from a 4528 mile southern trip. We left NM and our first stop was Lampasas TX to pick up 3 granddaughters. That night I made the Cobbler. It was a hit. My sister said her grandkids would love it, next night next stop. I decided to mix all the dry ingredients (incase they didn't have something). It was 10:00 before we got there, so had to skip dessert. OK, I'll make them in NC our next lay over stop. They had so many sweets made I said, no, will wait for LA. There we were so busy and the last day I fell and broke ribs, so didn't feel well at all, no cobbler. Back to Lampasas last Saturday and guess what, we made the chocolate cobbler. It went full circle with us. Better than the first time I had made it. It is certainly a keeper....
