I got this recipe from the Homecoming Cookbook with Gloria Gaither. This is delicious and I hope everyone enjoys.

Ingredients

PASTRY

2 1/2 c
all purpose flour
1/4 c
sugar
1 tsp
salt
1 stick
butter
1/4 c
vegetable oil
1/4 c
water
1
egg

APPLE FILLING

6 c
granny smith apples, chopped and peeled
1 c
sugar
1/3 c
flour
2 tsp
fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp
cinnamon

CARAMEL SAUCE

1-8oz pkg
caramels
1/2 c
half and half

TOPPING

1-8oz pkg
cream cheese
1/3 c
sugar
1
egg
1/3 c
walnuts (optional)

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven t 350
In a large bowl, combine four, sugar, and salt. Cut butter into flour mixture until fine cumbs form. In a small bowl, combine oil, egg, and water, beat until smooth and creamy. Slowly add wet mixture to dry mixture. Blend together until dough is smooth. Press dough into a 10 inch deep pie plate. In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon and todd lightly. Spoon into crust. In a small saucepan combine caramels and half and half. Cook over low heat until smooth. Spoon caramel over apples. In a medium size saucepan combine cream cheese, sugar and egg. Cook on low heat until melted and smooth. Spoon over caramel apple mixture. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
