Very flexible, very yummy recipe! Be sure to scroll all the way down in the directions to see a couple of family favorites!

Ingredients

1 box
yellow or white cake mix
1 stick
butter
1 c
water (optional)
2 (15oz) can(s)
fruit or pie filling (or 1 (30oz) can)

Directions Step-By-Step

Coat a moderate sized baking dish with butter and pour in fruit/filling.

Sprinkle dry cake mix on top, evenly.

Add water, if desired.

Cut remaining butter into chunks and place at even intervals on top.

Bake at 350 degrees... Baking time varies.

Family Favorite #1: Yellow cake mix, fruit cocktail, Mt. Dew and shredded coconut to sprinkle on top.

Family favorite #2: Chocolate cake mix, cherry pie filling and chocolate chips to sprinkle on top.

If your fruit has enough juice in it to dampen the cake mix, then you don't need the water, if it doesn't then you use the water to make the mix damp. But keep in mind that when the butter melts it will soak into the mix as well so you don't want to add too much water, it varies.

Why is the water optional? What happens if you use it? And what happens if you leave it out? Which do you do? In or Out? Thanks and I truly plan on trying this the next shopping trip I will get everything.... Thanks Bunches...Barb
