This japanese dessert is made with the powdered agar-agar. Kanten is a regular dessert on the New Years Menu and is delicious and healthy.

Ingredients

2 tsp
kanten (agar-agar) powder
1 1/4 c
water
3 Tbsp
sugar
1 1/4 c
orange juice
1
orange, peeled and sectioned

Step-By-Step

1In a medium saucepan, combine water and kanten powder on medium-heat and bring to a boil to dissolve the powder, stirring well.

2Turn the heat down to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, add in the sugar and turn off the heat.

3Add in the orange juice and stir well.

4Place orange slices in individual jelly molds or glass bowls and pour the jelly mixture over the orange slices.

5Refrigerate until set.
