Been making these for some time now,To be honest always bought my shells. My nephew bought me the cannoli tubes for Christmas so I experimented with a few different recipes and came up with this easy easy shell recipe! Because Im all about easy when it comes to cooking.

Ingredients For nana lisa's cannoli's

  • shells
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 3 Tbsp
    marsala wine (or white wine)
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • filling
  • 1 lb
    ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 lb
    whipping cream
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 tsp
    maraschino cherry juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    orange rind
  • mini choc chips, cherries, nuts, for decorating

How To Make nana lisa's cannoli's

    For Shells Mix flour and shortening then add rest shell ingredients with a pinch of salt. Roll thin and cut into 3in squares. Wrap around cannoli tubes overlapping and sealed with egg white. Fry in hot oil til golden brown.

    Filling-Whip ricotta and sugar. Mix in rest of ingredients except whipping cream. Whip the cream and fold in ricotta mix, Fill shells and add extras (Choc, nuts etc.) I put filling in piping bag.

    Decorate as desired. Refridgerate for hour to set before serving.
