This recipe was created by mistake, but came out great! You can make variations of this recipe! I used 16 oz of cream cheese and 1 stick of butter, filled a cake with it and rasberry preserves ...it came out great! You can also mix this recipe (minus the cream cheese) with a regular chocolate butter cream icing recipe to get a light fluffy chocolate filling! Have fun :)!

Ingredients For fluffy frosting or filling

  • 1 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    cornstartch
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 c
    whole milk
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 16 oz
cream cheese, room temperature (if making cream cheese frosting/filling)

How To Make fluffy frosting or filling

  • 1
In a bowl combine sugar, flour, cornstartch, salt and milk. Whisk together until smooth.
  • 2
Put mixture in to a saucepan and cook on the stove until mixture is boiling and thick (takes about 5-8 minutes). Then pour mixture in to a separate bowl and let it cool to room temperature. You may also cool it in the fridge, but the mixture needs to be at room temperature in order for the other ingredients to mix properly! (I just leave mine on the counter top covered with a paper towel until it is cooled.)
  • 3
After mixture is completed cooled add the butter and mix on medium speed until blended. Then slowly add in confectioner's sugar and blend until fluffy. You may also add 16 oz. of cream cheese at this time for cream cheese filling.
  • 4
Place in fridge until cold before decorating or filling your dessert! Enjoy!
