IT'S KIND OF LONG BUT THE RESULTS ARE WELL WORTH THE TIME. AS THEY SAY THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING

Ingredients

3/4 cups sugar, 2tbsp flour, 1/4 tsp salt
2 cups milk, 3 eggs separated 1tsp vanilla extract
2 boxes vanilla wafers, 6 t0 8 bananas, 1tsp banana extract

Directions Step-By-Step

COMBINE1/2 CUP SUGAR,FLOUR AND SALT IN THE TOP OF A DOUBLE BOILER, THEN STIR IN THE MILK. (2) COOK OVER BOILING WATER STIRRING CONSTANTLY UNTIL THICKENED (3)COOK UNCOVERED 15 MINUTES MORE STIRRING OCCASSIONALLY(4)BEAT EGG YOLKS AND GRADUALLY STIR INTO HOT MIXTURE (5)RETURN TO DOUBLE BOILER AND COOK 15 MINUTES STIRRING CONSTANTLY. (6)REMOVE FROM HEAT, ADD VANILLA,AND BANANA FLAVORING(7) LINE BOTTOM OF CASSEROLE WITH VANILLA WAFERS AND TOP WITH A LAYER OF SLICED BANANAS(8) POUR A PORTION OF THE CUSTARD OVER THE BANANAS, AND CONTINUE TO LAYER , WAFERS , BANANAS AND CUSTARD ENDING WITH CUSTARD ON TOP. BEAT EGG WHITES STIFF, AND ADD 1/4 CUP SUGAR. THEN PILE ON TOP OF THE PUDDING IN THE CASSEROLE DISH. BAKE IN 425 DEGREE OVEN FOR 5 MINUTES
