I got this recipe from an old farmers almanac (favorite cookies) that belonged to my Grandma..I love older recipe's..those ladies sure knew how to cook!..My Gram used to make this..Enjoy!! Make sure you use the dark and brown sugar as directed to get the best results!

Ingredients For coconut, pecan squares

1/2 c( 1 stick) butter, softened

1/2 ccup packed dark-brown sugar

1 call purpose flour

2eggs
-
1 cpacked light-brown sugar
-
1 cchopped pecans or walnuts, i used both

1/2 cshredded coconut tossed with 2 tablespoons flour
-
1 tspvanilla extract
-
pinch of salt

confectioners' sugar
How To Make coconut, pecan squares

1Gather ingredients. Preheat oven to 350 degree. Spray 8 x 8 pan with cooking spray.

2Cream butter and dark-brown sugar, then add the 1 cup flour and mix well.

3Press into a greased 8x8-inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.

4Meanwhile, beat the eggs until frothy. Gradually add light-brown sugar and beat until thick.

5Add pecans, coconut tossed with flour, vanilla, and salt. Mix well.

6Spread over crust and bake for 20 minutes longer, or until brown.

7Cool on rack. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and cut into 1-inch squares.
