heavy cream

vanilla extract

Directions Step-By-Step

Melt butter in a small frying pan, add salt and pecans and sautee over medium high heat for about 5 minutes, stirring often. Drain off most of the butter, leaving a little in the pan with pecans. Let cool for about 15-20 minutes
In a large mixing bowl whisk together milk and sugar, whisk in cream and vanilla, stir in pecans
Turn on your icecream freezer(I use a Cuisinart), pour icecream mixture in and let it churn for 25 minutes. It will be soft serve at this point. You can serve it immediately or put it in a freezer safe container and freeze.

I was so looking forward to trying this. I followed the directions exactly. Mine churned in my ice cream machine for 45 minutes and never remotely started to get thick. So I have poured the mixture into a pan and stuck it in the freezer to see if I can salvage it somehow. I'm wondering if I should have chilled the mixture for awhile before attempting to churn it. But it does taste good, even if I end up having to drink it!
