Pat's Notes:

This was first called "Million Dollar Rice Salad" and won first prize in a Texas Farm Bureau contest- where all the recipes had to contain rice and this was the prize winner and the only dessert salad entered.
Since then it has been on dinner tables and buffet counters at most every holiday and celebration and goes by many names and many different ingredients. But this is my favorite combination.

Directions

1
Combine cream cheese, sugar and mayonnaise and whip until smooth. Fold in rice, cherries, pineapple and marshmallows and blend gently.
Fold in Cool Whip and pecan if desired.
2
Note:
Original recipe calls for whipped Dream Whip according to package directions.
I prefer to us the Cool Whip.

My Mom always loved a salad like this (called it Heavenly Hash) but I have never seen it made with cream cheese! Can't wait to whip it up for our April potluck! Thanks for sharing!
