Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup lemon juice, fresh
- 8 x large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons lemon zest
- 1/16 teaspoon salt
- 10 tablespoons butter, unsalted, cut into small pieces
- OPTIONAL:
- 2 - 4 tart shells or phyllo tarts
- GARNISH:
- cool whip free
- assorted berries
How To Make lemon custard dessert or tarts

Step 1In a heatproof bowl, whisk together 1st 5 ingredients. Place mixture over a saucepan over low simmering water set over medium low heat. Cook, whisking often, until mixture starts to thicken, about 20 minutes.

Step 2Remove bowl from pot & slowly whisk in butter until smooth.

Step 3You can either pour into individual dishes or into tart shells. Cover & chill at least 2 hours or until ready to serve. Serve with a dollop of cool whip & berries, if desired.
