This recipe is 95% my creation (most of my recipes come from cookbooks, internet, friends, etc). The missing 5% is the idea -- I had been reading a series of books by Gayle Greeno featuring a group of traveling truth-finders. Once of there supplies was a "comestible" that was placed in the fire or coals or something. I took them to be apples, and developed this recipe to "fill-out" a grilled meal.

Ingredients For grilled apples

  • 4
    apples
  • 1 1/2 c
    butter, divided
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • raisins
  • walnuts

How To Make grilled apples

  • 1
Peel, core, and thin slice apple (with the apple peeler / corer / slicer gadget - you want to keep the apple apple-shaped).
  • 2
Melt 1 cup butter (or butter flavored Crisco). Mix cinnamon and sugar (you can buy it already mixed or mix it yourself - I believe a 3:1 ratio of sugar to cinnamon). Place slices of remaining butter on aluminum foil.
  • 3
Dunk apple in butter, then roll in cinnamon/sugar mix. Place on aluminum foil. Proceed with rest of the apples. Mix raisins and nuts into cinnamon/sugar mix. Fill core hole with cinnamon/sugar/nut/raisin mix. Wrap apples with both layers of aluminum foil.
  • 4
Grill to taste, approximately 20 minutes. Remove aluminum foil and enjoy!
