Ingredients For cinnamon apple puffs

  • 1 c
    plus 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    red food coloring drops
  • 4 to 5
    apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    crisco shortening
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon

    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Ina small saucepan, boil the 1 cup sugar,water,and food coloring until it tickens to a syrup. Place the apples in a greased 8by12 inch pan,

    In large bowl sift together the dry ingredients and cut in shortening. Add the milkmenought to make a soft dough. Drop the dough by spoonfuls on top of the apples and make a dent in the top of each mound.

    In small bowl,combine the butter, 2 tablespoons sugar,and cinnamon. Place some cinnamon-sugar mixture in each dent. Bake for 25 to minutes. Serve warm with cool whip or ice cream.
