Ingredients

8 c
tart cooking apples, peeled, chopped
1/2 c
brown sugar, packed, divided
2 tsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
ground cinnamon

Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 30-40 minutes or until apples are tender.

Remove from the heat; mash apples (a potato masher works well) until sauce is desired consistency.
