Place the butter and batter in the bottom of the pan, spoon on the fruit. When the cobbler bakes, the crust rises through the fruit to the top. Self rising flour is a must.

    frozen cherries, thawed
  • 2 c
    sugar, divided
  • 1/2 c
    (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 c
    self rising flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/3 c
    cocoa
  • 1 c
    2% reduced fat milk

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Combine cherries and 1 cup of sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves, cherries release their juices, and liquid thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

    Pour melted butter into a 2-quart baking dish.
