Ingredients For berry grunt

  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter,melted
  • 2 c
    fresh blueberries
  • 2 c
    fresh raspberries
  • 2 c
    fresh blackberries
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    water
  • vanilla ice cream

How To Make berry grunt

    In a small bowl,mix 1 tablespoon of the sugar and the cinnamon;set aside.In a medium bowl,mix flour,2 tablespoons sugar,the baking powder,1/8 teaspoon salt and the nutmeg.In small bowl,stir milk and butter with a whisk.Stir into flour mixture until moistened;set batter aside.

    In an 11-inch straight-sided skillet,stir together berries.Gently stir in remaining 5 tablespoons sugar,remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt,the lemon juice and water.Cover;heat to boiling over medium-high heat,stirring occasionally.

    Drop 8 dollops of batter on top of berry mixture.Sprinkle dumplings and berries with reserved cinnamon-sugar.Cover;reduce heat to medium.Cook 8 minutes or until dumplings are cooked through and fruit mixture is bubbly. Serve warm.Top with Vanilla ice-cream,if desired.
