Cross Creek Florida has a lot of history and the restarent is still there,I believe.Where many famous people have eaten ,way before I was even born.I have eaten there and caught some of the finest fish in the creek that is between two lakes and called Cross Creek.

Ingredients For cross creek old country woman's butterscotch pie

    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    butter
  • 1 lg
    egg yolk
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 4 Tbsp
    half and half
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make cross creek old country woman's butterscotch pie

    Put on sugar/water and butter to boil in pot.Beat egg yolk until light and add in 4 TBSP half and half that has been well whisked with the 2 TBSP flour.

    Stir into the syrup that has been boiling for 3 minutes.Lower the heat and cook until thick.

    Beat 2 egg whites until stiff and stir into thick mixture.Cool slightly and turn into a prebaked pie crust.Can put meringue on top=3 egg whites--1/2 tsp cream of tartar and 1 TBSP sugar whipped with a mixer until stiff peaks form,then put on pie and broil for a very few minutes until golden brown.
