Ingredients For chocolate tortoni

  • 1 pkg
    11 ounces chocolate cream filled sandwich cookies
  • 1 2/3 c
    13 ounce can evaporated milk
  • 3/4 c
    chocolate flavored syrup
  • 1/2 c
    heavy or whipping cream
  • 2 Tbsp
    rum or rum extract
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    finely chopped walnuts, additional walnuts
  • 9
    maraschino cherries, well drained and cut into halves

How To Make chocolate tortoni

  • 1
    Place cookies, a few at a time, in processor or blender; process or blend to form fine crumbs. Set aside. Pour evaporated milk into large mixer bowl. Place bowl and beaters in freezer until ice crystals form around edge of evaporated milk. Whip until stiff peaks form. Fold in syrup, cream, rum or rum extract, sugar, vanilla, and cookie crumbs.

    Pour into paper lined muffin cups (2 1/2 inches in diameter). Sprinkle with 1 cup chopped walnuts. Cover and freeze several hours or overnight. Top with additional chopped walnuts and maraschino cherry halves just before serving.
