My mother made fried apples for us kids. I thought everyone knew how to cook them up, apparently not. Have run across a few who have never heard of fried apples!!! Who would have thought! Use whatever apples you have on hand, I do.

Ingredients For mama's fried apples

  • 6 lg
    apples, red delicious-cored and sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    raisins
  • 1/4 c
    walnuts-chopped
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    cloves

How To Make mama's fried apples

  • 1
    Place the butter in skillet on medium high and let it melt. While it does that , get your apples washed, cored and sliced. Place in skillet and let it cook.

    Stir the apples as they cook and when they start to become soft, sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and the raisins.

    Continue cooking the apples until soft, about 5 minutes more. Add the walnuts and stir everything together. It's ready to serve!

    Sometimes we will add a dollop of whipped cream, or scoop of vanilla ice cream. Most of the time we just serve it as a side to supper.
