Fell in love with these cookies when I went to a farmer's market in my daughter's town. The seller was not willing to give up the recipe, so I scoured the internet. Couldn't settle on one, so I made my own recipe. Hope you love them as much as I do!!

Ingredients For soft orange cookies

  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    margarine or sugar, softened
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 2
    eggs
  • 4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp
    grated orange peel
  • FROSTING
  • 1/4 c
    margarine or butter, melted
  • 2 c
    icing sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    grated orange peel
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    orange juice

How To Make soft orange cookies

    Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, combine sugar and 1 cup margarine; beat until light and fluffy. Add sour cream and eggs; blend well. Add all remaining cookie ingredients; mix well. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake at 375°F. for 8 to 11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets and place on cooling racks.

    For the frosting, in small bowl, blend all frosting ingredients until smooth, adding enough orange juice for spreading consistency. Frost warm cookies.
