oatmeal date nut cookies

I decided to make this recipe I found on an old recipe card from my card catalogue..They turned out delicious. Some I frosted with Irish Cream frosting and others I left plain...my family and I love them ,why not give them a try..the mixing goes fast and they will be done in an hour...start to finish..

Ingredients For oatmeal date nut cookies

  • 1 c
    margarine
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 2/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 3 c
    old fashioned oatmeal
  • 1 c
    chopped dates
  • 1/4 c
    chopped mixed nuts

How To Make oatmeal date nut cookies

    Heat oven to 350^. Cream margarine and sugars together,until light and fluffy;using electric mixer,large bowl. Then add eggs and vanilla and combine well. Next combine and add flour, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon and combine.Mix well.

    Combine oatmeal,nuts and dates, mix to separate,then add by hand to the batter. Use a soup spoon or Tablespoon to drop batter onto ungreased cookie sheets. These will spread a little. Bake for 11 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Let set on cookie sheet for 30 seconds. Transfer to paper to cool. Frost if desired.

    Irish Cream Drizzle: 2 cup powdered sugar dash of salt 1 teaspoon corn syrup Irish cream coffee mate liquid Combine ingredients and stir well. Adding enough Irish Cream coffee mate to make a thick drizzle. Spoon mixture into plastic sandwich bag and swirl over cookies as desired..Enjoy.
